He also has specialized experience working with children and teens facing behavioral challenges and neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and oppositional defiant disorder (ODD).
Dr. Cubala began his career in 2001 in a residential substance abuse program and later earned his Master’s and Doctorate from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in Chicago. During his training, he worked in inner-city schools and a teen outpatient substance abuse clinic, gaining valuable insight into the unique needs of youth and families. After completing his doctorate, he served on Guam’s Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, providing care across both inpatient and outpatient settings. Upon returning to the U.S., Dr. Cubala expanded his expertise by working with the geriatric population in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. This practice is whole health practice where a person can utilize many services in one location.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Cubala serves as a psychologist on the Wellness Team at the Schaumburg Police Department. He considers it an honor to support the mental health and well-being of those who serve the community, stating, “It’s important to serve those who serve us.”
Outside the office, Dr. Cubala is passionate about personal wellness and growth. He trains in Jiu Jitsu, practices yoga, enjoys mountain biking and meditation, and is a percussionist who loves music, sports fan, dog lover, and traveler.
